Frequently Asked Questions

What is masters artistic swimming?

Masters are adult swimmers. We compete against other swimmers in the same age category, which is determined by the average age of the team members. We do not have figures competitions, but we do swim a technical routine with required elements as well as a free routine.

What are technical elements?

Technical elements are the movements that are required in every technical routine. If you’ve done figure competitions, you may recognize some of these elements! The requirements change from time to time, and the current list is available on the Fina website.

My daughter or son is interested in artistic swimming. Can you help?

We are a masters-only club, so unless your daughter or son is over 19 — in which case, please direct them to the Join Us page — they will need to wait before they are able to swim with us. In the meantime, you can check out Ontario Artistic Swimming to find a club near you, as well as the Canada Artistic Swimming.

I’m over 19 and I’ve never done artistic swimming in my life. I don’t want to commit to joining a team until I know if I even like the sport. What can I do?

Unfortunately, our club is only able to accept new members who have experience as competitive artistic swimmers. However, Toronto Artistic Swimming offers a recreational masters synchro program with no previous synchro experience required. Please visit Toronto Artistic Swimming for more info.

Can men do artistic swimming?

Of course they can and we do have men in our club! If you’re a former or current male artistic swimmer we’d love to hear from you.

What kind of time commitment is required?

We have five hours of practise time a week; teams typically work with their coaches and music approximately two hours a week, and duets and solos for 30 minutes, but pool time is open and you are encouraged to practise on your own or with your partner at other times as well.
